You can’t complain about racism if you’re going to take part in colourism

I know I might bother a lot of people of colour making this post, but it’s something that needs to be said. I hate colourism more than most things. The reason is that racism and colourism whilst not being the exact same thing come from the same place.

It’s the idea that people are a certain way due to the tone of their skin. I find it interesting that in cultures which don’t have multiple races living together, they still find a way to separate themselves through skin colour. It says a lot about the way humans work.

Like traditional racism, the lighter the asking the better. I will say this though, most of the jokes I see about skin colour are on light-skinned people. We’re apparently soft and sensitive.

I feel like colourism is dumber than normal racism because we know what racism is and feels like. How can a person who’s been going through racism from another race then go at someone else for the tone of their skin? That makes no sense to me.

What does colourism tell us…
